| The procedures adopted for incorporating breeding decisions in a livestock market model have implications for the simulation of the model. Specifically, there is a need to consider the nature of the biological lags between livestock breeding decisions and outputs, and how these are incorporated in the breeding inventory used in such a model. In this paper, five alternative breeding inventory specifications are used in a structural econometric model of the Australian prime lamb market. The predictions of lamb slaughterings and of price responses of lamb producers are affected by the specification of the lamb breeding inventory used. | Desenvolveram-se experimentos nos anos agrícolas 1988/89 e 1989/90, em Adamantina, para estudar, na cultura do amendoim, o efeito de três alturas, 3, 6 e 9 cm, e duas épocas de amontoa, aos 28/29 e aos 57 dias após semeadura na população de plantas, número de vagens por planta, produção de vagens e de grãos e peso de grãos em cem gramas de vagens de amendoim, sobre o que não se observou influência da altura da amontoa. A época de amontoa influiu na produção de vagens, no número de vagens por planta e no peso de grãos em cem gramas de vagens de amendoim. |

| Amanita grallipes, a new species from the State of Parand in southern Brazil, belonging to Amanita sect. Lepidella subsect. Vittadiniae, is extensively described and illustrated. It is well-characterized by a long, slightly rooting stipe with a non-bulbous base and scattered remnants of the universal veil, a dark brown pileus with dark brown warts, lamellae turning maize yellow, ellipsoid spores shorter than 9.5 µm and the presence of clamp-connections. |

| Foi realizado um experimento em vasos visando reproduzir sintomas de amarelecimento foliar observados em arroz-de-sequeiro em condições de campo, em Assis (SP), e estudar suas possíveis causas nutricionais. Os tratamentos constituíram-se de areia quartzosa retirada da camada de 0-20 cm, submetida a dois manejos (solo original e solo calcariado e cultivado), dois tipos de irrigação (padrão e excessiva) e quatro cultivares de arroz (IAC-25, IAC-47, Araguaia e Rio Paranaíba). Foram avaliados os sintomas de amarelecimento foliar, o acúmulo de massa seca da parte aérea e de raízes, os teores de macro- e micronutrientes nas folhas e colmos, e estudou-se a anatomia de folhas e raízes. | Biogenic siliceous and calcareous sediments were drilled at sites 677 and 678 on the flank of Costa Rica Rift in the Panama basin. We analysed DCAA (dissolved combined amino acids) and DFAA (dissolved free amino acids) in the interstitial waters as well as THAA (total hydrolyzable amino acids) in the sediments in order to evaluate the relationship between THAA, DCAA and DFAA. Between 1949 and 1980, the dairy price support program generally operated without incurring large government costs and was an effective price stabilizer. | A nonparametric analysis of technical, allocative, scale, and scope efficiency of agricultural production is presented based on a sample of Wisconsin farmers. The results indicate the existence of important economies of scale on very small farms, and of some diseconomies of scale for the larger farms. Also, it is found that most farms exhibit substantial economies of scope, but that such economies tend to decline sharply with the size of the enterprises. Finally, the empirical evidence suggests significant linkages between the financial structure of the farms and their economic efficiency. |
